About the Role
Position Summary:
As a RAAFA Tactical Pistol Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality firearms instruction in a safe, respectful, and professional environment. You will lead individual and group classes for students of varying skill levels—from beginners to advanced shooters—while ensuring all range safety protocols and curriculum standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruct pistol safety and shooting fundamentals for civilians in both classroom and range settings
Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols at all times
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
Set up training materials and equipment before each session
Keep accurate attendance and training records
Represent RAAFA Tactical’s values with professionalism and respect
Assist with occasional events, workshops, or courses as needed
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be NRA Certified Pistol Instructor or USCCA Certified Instructor
Must be a Current Member Of The Rochester African American Firearms Assoc.
At least 2–5 years of practical shooting experience
Minimum 21 years of age
Strong knowledge of firearms safety, maintenance, and shooting techniques
Ability to clearly communicate instructions and corrections
Experience working with beginners and diverse populations
Must pass a background check and instructor screening
Must be dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
Comfortable leading both private lessons and group classes
Willing and able to work weekends
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
Military or Law Enforcement background
First Aid / CPR / Stop the Bleed certification
Previous teaching or coaching experience
Familiarity with New York State firearm laws
